RANGIORA MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
-Messrs C. I. Jennings, J.P , J. Marshall, J.P., and M. M’Gmer, J.P., presided at the Rangiora -Magistrate's Court to-day. . Charles Morris was fined 10s for ridmg his bicycle at night without o hgnt.
A schoolboy, on a similar charge, was convicted and discharged. John O’Neil was proceeded against hy the Rangiora County Council (Mr T- C. Kincaid) for allowing sixty head of cattle to be at large. The ranger gave evidence that the cuttle were deliberately grazed ou tf;o road without anyone in charge of mem. A iiuo of ~y with £1 15s Bcl costs, was inflicted.
James Taylor was charged with allowing iorty-nme head of cattle to bo at large. The ranger stated that the cattle wore being grazed on the roadDefendant, who had a nrevious conviction against him, was fined £5 and £1 15- 8d costs. George Murfitt, for allowing fortyhead ol cattle and four horses to be at large, was fined £1 and £1 15s 8d costs. Defendant declared that tho animals were only temporarily unattended whilst moving to the'grazing piuldock. During the hearing of the borough by-law cases the Mavor (Air 0. I. Jennings) retired from the Bench, and Air Aiarshall retired whilst the County Council cases were being heard.
