HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.
♦ ERECTION OF NEW BUILDING. Mr Walter Puller, of Wellington, I has completed three days’ negotiations with the directors of the Canterbury Hall Company. As a result it has been decided to erect a small theatre on the Canterbury Hall site, Manchester Street, first, and the larger theatre later. It is expected that tenders will ho called for tho smaller theatre to be completed in four or five months. Messrs Fullers’ lease of the theatre will be for thirty years. Mr Fuller stated to-day that these and other arrangements and details could not he definitely fixed until he communicated with his firm’s representatives in Sydney, and that he expected a. reply from them early next week. He added that the smaller theatre could have been taken in hand previously if it had not been for the project of erecting a theatre in Castlereagh Street, Sydney, recently opened. It is in the place of the old National Theatre, and bears the title “ Fuller’s New Theatre.”
