COUNCIL INSISTS.

DISPUTE WITH HOUSE.

[Pkr Press Association.] ELLINGTON, October 7. The Legislative Council this afternoon, with five dissentients, the Hons J. W. Jones, Te Heuheu Tukino, J.T. Paul, J. Grimmond and Sir William Hall-Jones, decided to insist upon its amendments to the Women’s Parliamentary Rights Bill. 1 Ihe Council adopted as its reasons for insisting on its amendments:— (1) That the Bill as passed by the House of Representatives does, in respect to the words excised by the committee, infringe the privileges of the Council, as defined by the Speaker of the Council. (2) That the reasons given by the I House of Representatives imply insistence on such infringements.
