ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. Thfl annual competitions held under the auspices of the Canterbury Caledonian Society were concluded on Saturday. The entries totalled 140. The judges were I">ancingr. Mr V,'. Kilgour; piping, Mr Jainos Allan; ana singing and reciting, Mr H Gladstone Hill. The pipers for the dancinwere Pipe-Major Erskine. Pipers J. Shanna° han, James Allan, L. Shields, R. Milne andH- Legge. Champion points were a-warded as follows—Muriel Wangh, first, 10 points; L. Ed°inton second, 7 poinu: Emilv Turner and Violet Robertson, equal, third, 5 points each. Results on Saturday were as follow* • Highland fling (1919 pupils. girls>—Vera M'Donald 1, Mabel Dalton 2.' Twenty-four others competed. Highland fling (1919 pupils, boys)—Llovo Haynard 1, Jack Simpson 2. Two others competed. Scottish song (under twelve vears)—Kathleen Philpott 1, Gw Clarke 2.' Four others competed. Seann Triubhais (191!) pupils)— Rita Petersen 1, Mabel Sinclair 2. Sever, others competed. Sword dance (open, under seventeen years) —Emily Turner 1, Dorothy Cald.ow 2. Eight othere competed. Recitation (under .fcwohra ye^rs)—SbelU Chapman 1, Kathleen Philpott 2. Three others competed. Piping, marches—L. Shields 1, AY. Fowkr 2. One other competed. Recitation (open, under seventeen years) Dulcie Philpott 1, Gladys Giles 1 One other competed. Seann Triubhais (open, under seventeen years)— Muriel Waugh 1, Nirm Smith 2. Thirteen others competed.
