SOLDIERS’ CERTIFICATES.
COMPETITIVE DESIGNS. (Special to “ Star.”) ~ AVELLINGTON, October GIhd following awards have been made respecting the competitive designs tor soldiers’ certificates:— Overseas certificate, first prize £SO, R- Hawcridge, Ihmedin School of Arts; second £25, L. Rykers, Albert Road, Devonport. Four special merit prizes of £V) each were aw aided E. J. Skelton (Auckland), E- M. Fuller (AYelnngton), P. Bagnall (Auckland), and Tui B. (anonymous.) Two special merit prizes of £2 10s each were awarded to Trevor Lloyd (Devonport) and r AV. Beverstoob (Christchurch.) No award was made regarding the certificate for home service, as it was considered that no drawing submitted combined a suitable design with work of sufficient artistic merit. Fresh designs will be invited, closing on November 30.
