An accident which occurred at Longbum a few days ago might have resulted seriously but for the plucky action of a small boy named Zurcher. This lad and his sister, aged twelve years and seven years respectively, were passing along the road when the little girl was thrown to the ground by a stray cow that had been allowed to escape from a mob being driven along too road. She was stunned, and two front teeth were knocked out. The brother then rushed in with a stock whip, and managed to divert the cow's attention from the girl. The beast and her calf continued their career along the road. The cow then charged two girls on a bicycle, who managed to get through a gate- So close was the cow that there yvas not sufficient time to do;e tho gate. Tho animal trod on the bicycle and brushed the arm of the girl, who finally hid in a hedge. The cow then took charge of the house, lawn and flower and vegetable gardens with disastrous results.
