An apology has been received from the Russian commander in Siberia regarding the hogging of an- American soldier.
THE BALTIC STATES. STATEMENT BY HERR NOSKE. COPENHAGEN, October 1. Herr Noske, referring to the Entente s ultimatum, declared the Government was using the -strictest measures to ston the German troops entering the Baltic States. One of the chief difficulties was to deal with three thousand who had joined the North Russian army.
NEWS FROM VARIOUS FRONH3. HELSINGSFORS, October 1. ‘ The north-western array Las begun a general offendve in the direction of Eskoff. The Bolsheviks are stubbornly resisting, but eleven villages have been captured. The Polish forces occupied Dvinsk forts southward of the Dvina. General Balakovitch’s troops have broken through the Bolshevik lines, and an operation in the rear has secured a, huge number of horses and other impedimenta. Whole divisions of Bolsheviks went-over to Balakovitch.
