WEDDINGS.

A NOTABLE WEDDING. A wedding of more than New Zealand interest took place at St Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, yesterday afternoon (states a Press Association message), when Mr C. N. Mackenzie, youngest son of Sir Thomas Mackenzie, High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, was married to Miss Doris Sawyer, youngest daughter of Mr Harcourt Sawyer, of Springhill, Windsor Forest, London. The bride, who arrived in New Zealand by the Corinthic, was given away by Lord Jellicoe, anal Lady Jellicoe was present at the ceremony.

On leaving the Town Hall yesterday afternoon, ,at the conclusion of the lunch tendered to him by the Auckland branch of the Navy League, Lord Jellicoe - apologised for having to cut short his remarks, on account of the fact that he was due to be present at the wedding of Mr Clutha Mackenzie. “ I hope that the bride a»d bridegroom nbout-to-be will have as nappy a marriage as has fallen to my lot,” added Lord Jellicoe, amid applause. HUNT—WELSH. A wedding took place at St Mary’s" Church, Merivale, yesterday afternoon, when Miss Lilian Flore ace Welsh, daughter of Airs C. H. Jubb, Dcvonport Lane, St Albans, was married to Air Villiers Elliot Hunt, son of Air and Airs Hunt, Idris Road, Fendalton, also of Christchurch. The Yen Archdeacon Haggitt performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her step-father, Mr C. H. Jubb", looked charming in a beautiful wedding robe of white georgette and crepe de chine. Exquisite hand embroidery and pearl trimming appeared on the loosefitting tunic bodice, the sides of whicii came to points which were weighted with pearl ornaments. The skirt Aliss Dorothy Welsh, a lavender crepe de chine frock; Aliss Winifred Welsh, a pinafore frock of saxe bine crepe do chine and white lace, and a cream hat trimmed with saxe bine velvet. Amongst the guests were Air Hunt (father of the bridegroom), Aliss Hunt, Afr and Airs J. Jackman, Aliss Alercia J ickman, Airs S. Rankin, Air and Airs AfaoGibbon. Air and Airs Barker, Miss Weldon, Aliss Clements, Air Alazey, Aliss Freda Mazey, Air Brodrfak, Mr S. James, Air D. Smith and Mr Dickson (Redcliffs). Later Air and Airs Hunt left for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy blue costume and smart hat to match.

MEYER—EUMNER. A quiet wedding was celebrated on Monday at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, hy_ the Rev Father Murphy, when Adman Noel, youngest son of Mr and Mrs F. Meyer, Moorhouse Avenue, was married to Gwladys Teresa, youngest daughter of Mrs Sumner, Christchurch. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr E- Hall, looked charming in a smart costume of champagne gabardine, with hat,_ shoes and stockings en suite, and carried a handsome shower bouquet of spring flowers and maidenhair fern'. She wore a gold necklet and pendant, and gold expanding wristlet watch, both gifts of the bridegroom. She was by Miss Zita jVleyor (sister of the bridegroom) as bridesmaid, who was prettily attired in white and carried a shower bouquet and wore a gold and amethyst brooch, the bridegroom’s £dt. Mr Roy Sumner capably earned out the duties of best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s sister, Mrs E. Hall, Fendalton, only the immediate relatives of the bride and hridegroom being present. Subsequently the happy couple, who were the recipients of many left for Wellington en route to Wanganui, thrir future home.
