It is understood that tho Republicans aro offering a mild compromise In. the reservation in connection with Article 10, reading: “The United States will not assume any obligations to preserve territorial integrity or interfere in the controversies of other nations whether or not members of tho League or use her military or naval forces for any purpose unless authorised by Congress.” WASHINGTON, September 27. Senator Johnson has received telegrams from the most prominent Californian Republicans asking him to withdraw his opposition to tho League of Nations.
