TRINITY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL OPENED. A very succassfal function was held on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being tho opening of a branch Sunday school in coaEEeiicra with Trinity Congregational Churcn, at Hills Road, St Albans. The Rev G. H. Moore, pastor of Trinity Church, in openin', tne proceedings, called upon Mr J. D. HuC cam who in conjunction with Mi J. B. b timbers, has had charge of the initial portion of the work during the term of tho school at the Young Men’s Hall, Madrids Street. Mr Hntchin, in s. brief speech, outlined the work leading 1 up to the new building to bo opened that day, \and congratulated all tho helpers for tho excellent services rendered. Mr Hntchin, in handing tho key to Mr A. IV. Beaven to perform the opening ceremony, expressed regret at tho unavoidable absence of Mr L. M. Isht, who was detained in Wellington, Mr Beaven said it gave him great pleasure to bo present that afternoon to open tho new Sunday school It was another step forward in a thickly populated district, and he wished every success and God-spoad to the new undertaking. The door of the bufiding was then unlocked, and Mr Beaven- declared the new school open. A short service - was held, the Rev G. E. Moore presiding. After a hymn and prayer, the Ilev Alien Job, who was really the pioneer of the work on the district committee, gave a very interesting address. Mr J B. Strothers, who had also taken a leading part in the school, expressed his pleasure at the success of the movement, and said that part of the building that they were in that day was a workshop, and he hoped it would remain such for the making of boys and grlrls into good and useful citizens. Votes o; thanks to all who had helped to faring about the results were carried by acclamation, special mention being made of Hr J. Ikjrimer and Mr M’Callmu, At tho conclusion light refreshments wore • handed round by the ladies. In the evening a vary successful young people’s gathering was held, and ycvtord.y afternoon the Rev G, E. Moore conducted a special opening service.
