FRUITGROWING.

ORCHARD AREAS FOR SOLDIERS. [Pant Press Association.] NELSON, September 29. The Stoke Fruitgrowers’ Association unanimously passed the following motion : —That this association regrets the lack of encouragement that is being given to returned soldiers to settle in orchard areas, and urges that the Government facilitate matters by immediately establishing soldiers’ orchard areas, including bee-keeping, especally as fruitgrowing in suitable localities gives better returns acre for acre than dairying, sheep or agriculture.
