TAXI PICNIC.

HO CARS LEFT IH CITY. The numerous city taxi stands were deserted to-day on the occasion of the taxi men’s annual picnic at the Selwyn Huts. About forty-five cars, headed by I>erry’s Band, paraded in Moorhouse Avenue towards nine o’clock. Some of thorn .were decorated, and all of them wer© very spick and span. There was a laxgo percentage of youngsters in the party, ''and they were light-hearted enough, despite the threat of dirty weather. Tho run was started through the city, and there was at least one consolation, that the roads were hy no means dusty. A very good sports programme had been arranged with attractive prizes, and although the day was threatening the shelter belts of trees at the Selwyn made the outing enjoyable. The horse cabs had “ a win ” as the result of the taxi men’s picnic.
