ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
Mrs Eggleston, residing at No. 7, Eden Street, slipped off a tram-car at the corner of Colombo Street North and Edgewaro Road last evening, ami sustained a broken arm. She was admitted to tile Christchurch Hospital. FOUND DEAD. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 17. The body of a woman was found on the Makara beach this morning. Later it was identified as that of a, single woman named Gertrude Sarah Knight, forty-nine years of ago, who had been missing since Tuesday night. The deceased, who was a. Wellington resident, had been in ill-health for some time. SUDDEN DEATH. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, September 17John Henderson, a retired miner from. Skippers, aged eighty-four, died suddenly this evening while seeing a friend from tho train at Burke’s railway station. CHILD DROWNED. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 17. A boy named Gordon At boll Cowley, aged two and'a half years, was found drowned in the harbour to-day. It is believed that the deceased was playing near the waterfront and had gone on to the beach, when he was overtaken by the tide. MOTOR SMASH. [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI, September 17. A serious motor accident occurred at the Marangi Hill to-night, a car going over the bank and somersaulting till it brought up against a fence, badly smashed. A young man named Hardy uas found unconscious in a paddock, haying evidently been thrown across the fence. He was removed to the hospital, where h© lies in a critical state.
