DISTRESSING CONDITIONS. [Pee Press Assocution.l DUNEDIN, September 18The question of child labour was again before the Education Board today, when the truant officer submitted a report showing that 365 children in the city and suburban schools were engaged in various occupations before and after school hours. Some boys were obliged to rise as early as 3 a.m working thirty-eight and a half hours weekly for a wage of 12s. Others were working shorter hours and earning from 11s to 3s. The board resolved to send copies of the report to the education Department and the Labour Department.
