Lilleshall, the Duke of Sutherland’s former seat in Shropshire, and one of the most famous residences in England, has been bought by Sir John Leigh, Bart. Thus one of the stateliest houses in the old British nobility passes to a Lancashire cotton spinner. Sir John received his baronetcy last year, for his generosity to various war enterprises. He gave to the Ked Cross the, John Leigh Memorial Hospital at Altrincham, which he built in honour of his father (founder of John Leigh, Ltd., Oldham), and it is now carried on as the Cheshire County Horn© for Disabled -Soldiers and Sailors.
