$ ARRIVAL OP THE ATNENIO. [Peb Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, September 1. The Athenic, with draft No. 277, berthed at 3.45 p.m- to-day. Her complement comprised 442 troops, 358 wives and 76 children. The vessel came via the Panama Canal and Newport News. The trip was uneventful, and there was no sickness aboard- A great crowd on the wharf welcomed Ihe troops and the soldiers’ wives, and the Patriotic Society’s band played selections. Only Wellington and Nelson troops left the vessel to-day- The Nelson men left by the Kaitoa this evening. Details for Auckland and district, will leave by special train from Thorndon at 12.30 p.m. to-morrow. Those for Palmerston North, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Napier and Gisborne will travel by the mail train leaving at 8.20 a.in., Napier and Gisborne men connecting with another train at Palmerston, and those for stations between Wellington and Longhorn will leave at 8 a-m. Ficton and Blenheim details will leave by the Mapourika on Wednesday at noon. Other South Island men will proceed to Lyttelton by the- A theme, which leaves at 7 a.m. to-morrow. Mr E. A. Dennis, late of the. New Zealand Medical Corps, who received his discharge in England lart, March, has left London for America, and expects to return to Glenroy, Canterbury, early in November, after four years’ active service. Air Dennis left New Zealand with the Fifth Reinforcements and served on Gallipoli ami also in France. Mr and Airs W. Evans, of 16, Winchcombe Street, and late of Ashburton, have received cabled advico that their son, Corporal ,f. E. Evans, is returning to the ’Dominion with returning draft No. 256 on the transport Adolph Woermami, due to arrive at Wellington on or about September 28. Corporal Evans left New Zealand with the 4th Battalion of the 1C tie Brigade.' He was once wounded- He saw considerable fighting in France, Mrs G. Webster has been advised that her husband, Second-Lieutenant G. F. Webster, M.C., is due to arrive at Lyttelton on September 21, by the Tainui. Mr J.
