RUGBY. AUCKLAND’S ATTITUDE CONSIDERED.' [Per Press Association.] W ELLINGTON, August 21. , The Management Committee of the New Ze aland Rugby Union met to-night to consider a reply from the Auckland Union to thb instruction issued by the Management Committee that, pending a general meeting of delegates, no amended rules were to bo played in Rugby matches. It was moved that the Auckland Onion be suspended under Rule 37, hut the motion was lost by four votes to throe. The voting was; For suspension, Harris, Piki, Slade; against suspension, Howe, Cook, Captain Crawford, Captain Jci.es Mi Harris announced that, as a result of the vote, he could not see his way to continue ae a member of the committee. He considered that the tactics adopted by the Auckland committee called for some action. MARISTS v. LINWOOD. The Linwood-Marists game, which has been looked forward to with much interest for a long time, will take place at the Show Grounds to-morrow. These two teams are on" even terms for tho championship sliield, with eleven points each, and it can safely bo anticipated that a first-class exhibition of Rugby football will bo seen. The Mari sis team will play in red. and black jerseys, owing to the similarity of the two clubs’ colours. Rules as observed throughout the season will be adhered to. The game will bo played on the oval, in front of the grandstand, which is capable of accommodating over two thousand spectators. Owing to the likelihood of a record attendance, patrons are requested to be early. The following are the teams: Harriets (red and black) —Full-back, B. Brosnahan; three-quarters, J. C. Mullins, O'Malley and H. Mullins; five-eighths, E. Fitzgerald and D. M’Cormick; halfback, E. B. M’Donald; forwards. J. Smith. B. Mahon, J. Ellis B. Frame, F. Smythe, L. Peterson, B. Flood and J. M'Cormick. Linwood (green and black) —Full-back. T. Delam-vro; three-quarters, H. Coe, H. Davis and R. Moore; five-eighths, W. Yates and J. Hirst; half-back, G. Burson; forwards, W. Owen, IF, Shaw, E. Empson, F. Sparks, L. Edmonds, E. Cummings, C. Jefferies and R. Tates. Mr J. F. Peake will be referee Tho game will commence at 2.45 p.m. sharp. ALBION CLUB. The following will represent the Albion Club in the Third Grade final match against North Canterbury at tho Show Grounds (No. 2 ground):—J. Foster, R. Belgrave, H. C. Smith, L. Raxworthy, B. Jury, W. Gcaley, A. Sinclair, T. M’Gill, A. Adams, G. Rutherford, IV. M’Clure. R. Watt, T. Chambers. P. Duff, G. Jones, P. E. Johnston and S. Poxtcoua. ELLESMERE SUB-UNION. The following were present at a meeting of. the Ellesmere Rugby Sub-union; —Messrs R. T. M’Millan (president), F. Lill (Dunsondel), H. Prebble (Prebbleton), P. Delargey (Scufhbridge), J. S. Halliday (Lceston) and S. Maxwell (honorary secretary). The president stated that the Ashburton Sub-umon wished to may Ellesmere at Ashburton one day this week. It was decided to write, stating that it was not convenient to play the proposed match, and suggesting that a date be arranged after September 6. The Canterbury Rugby Union wrote, asking if it would be convenient for an Ellesmere team to play a Junior team at the Addington Show Ground on August 30, as a curtain-raiser to the Wollington-Canterbury match. It was decided to send a team aa requested. The Linwood Chib asked ihe union to play a match with a Linwood team on Saturday, to be composed of Seniors and Juniors. It was decided to arrange for a match - at Leeston. Tho Malvern Sub-union suggested a match between Ellesmere and Malvern representative team on September 0. It was decided to play tho match as suggested. The Peninsula Sub-union suggested August SO as a suitable date for an Ellesmcre-Pen-inaula match. As the- date mentioned had already been taken for the match in Christchurch, it waa decided to arrange a match for September 13, if that would suit. Tho following team was selected to play Linwood on Saturday;—B. Ford, Donald, Bailey, Coleman, Maxwell. Sheet, Smith, Jones, N. Ford; Leahy, M'Mnrtrie, J. Tod, Reid, ,Barr and Constance; emergencies, ROhatterton, C. Cliatterton. Rapley, Isles, D. Hampton -and M’Nally. Mr F. Lill was appointed referee.
