DUNSTABLE HOUSE.

PEACE DANCEThe Art Gallery has looked very lovely on several occasions recently, but it would be hard indeed to imagine it looking more charming than it did last night, when the staff of Messrs J. Ballantyne and Co. held a Peace ball. The room looked a picture with the walls trellised in pale pink, long pink streamers hanging from the rings of electric lights, white hanging baskets laden with pink and white blossom, and the quaintest pale pink doves suspended by almost invisible wire a-s if poised for flight. This original idea was used throughout most appropriately, even the programmes were ornamented with a dove—the emblem of Peace. The main gallery was most comfortably furnished as a lounge with chairs,, sofas, carpets, etc., and to further enhance the artistic effect palms, shrub} and early spring flowers were used. Tho lights in the permanent gallery were covered with pink and blue streamers The small supper tables were each prettily adorned with a centrepiece of flowering plum- Hie whole of the arrangements for the dance had been carried out by a small committee of two, Miss Byrne and Mr Fowler, Mr Edwards assisting as master of ceremonies. Altogether the dance was voted a jolly one, and a fitting celebration of Peace.
