Mr Frederick Redwood, second son of the late Henry Redwood, “Father of the New Zealand Turf,” and a nephew of Archbishop Redwood, died at his home at Spring Creek yesterday (states a Press Association telegram from Blenheim). The deceased was s i-rominent settler of Marlboi ’ otr'y years. The Canterbury I^ilna o Institute last night, in the ration of Dr 0. O. Parr (president) pawM a motion expressing regret at the o to ath of Sir John Denniston, who was a member of the Institute for twenty-nine years, and appreciation of his services to the Dominion.
Miss Eerriott has been elected a member of the council of the Canterbury Philosophical Institute. She is the first lady member of the council. Mr A. M. Wright, vice-president, who is doing bacteriological work in Wellington, has resigned from his position, and Dr W. P. Hilgendorf has been appointed in hisplace. Messrs G. H. Holford *-.Skey have been appointed to nil vacancies on the council.
