SOCIAL AT LITTLE RIVER.

The first of the. old-time socials (so frequent, here in pre-war days) was held in tlie Town Hall ou Friday night. Ilicio was a large attendance, and everything was carried out in a firstclass manner, reflecting great credit ou the committee, of the Little River 1 ennis Club, who were the organisers. Rain set in during the afternoon and continued steadily all day, and no doubt helped to keep a number away who uonld otherwise have been present. As j.!;, v ' y -i bon ever, the floor was crowded. The hall was tastefully decorated with Hags and greenery, and had a most, picturesque appearance, and the lamps had pink, shades, which gave a charmnigly subdued effect. The supper was all that could be desired, and excellent music was supplied by Londrigan’s Band. During the evening Mv J. O. Coop presented the Montgomery Tennis Competition Cup to the winner, blr George Reid, who now holds the cup, having von it three times. Mr Coop incidentally mentioned that there was a cricket cup at his place which had been won last by the Little River Cricket Club in 1900, after which the competition seemed to have lapsed.
