Mac Donald said that , there was an! impression abroad that the Board of ■ Trade was the price fixing authority in! the Dominion- * This-' is says Mr Mac Donald. “ Their functions" end in making recommendations, but; there, is under consideration important' amending legislation conferring great powers on th© Board. • The whole of; the transactions of th© Board will be - laid before Parliament shortly, and the' public will see that a very useful; amount of work bee been accorii-' pli&hed,” The Minister remarked, in reference.; to the question of the cost of living, that Professor Fisher, of the Yale University, had made a classification of the countries suffering least by rising prices, and New Zealand! was third bn the list, after India and Australia, but ihe Dominion’s position in relation to Australia had now been reversed, so that’ we were now second, comparing i cry favourably with any other country it the world.
