SHIPPING LOSSES.
* Wo knew fairly well the distribution of tonnage losses as between the Allies in the war, hut the Ministry of Skip-i ping now gives ug the precise figures. They are, in gross tons:— Great Britain . 7,638,020 France . . . 690,845 4 tal y • . . 742,365 Japan . . . 120,176 United States . . 341,512 Great Britain presented the biggest target, .hut few people realised that her losses m shipping were, four times those or all the Allied combined. That loss Britain has been, as vet, unable to make good. That fact should have a substantial hearing on the distribution of the German tonnage when it comes to he made.
