ADDITIONS AND EXCISIONS
A “ Gazette ” notice issued on Monday contains several names that have been added to the official list of military defaulters, and also a list of deletions from the original list. Names have been struck off the list in the cases of men who have been able to prove that they did not evade military service or that they actually served with the Forces. The names are as follow ■—

Mr Joseph Wilson, of Hastings, and formerly of Christchurch, has received a cable from Ins eldest son, Sergeantmajor N, R. Wilson, stating that he will leave England about the end of this month. Sergeant-major Wilson has been connected with the educational scheme at Sling Camp, as Gregg shorthand instructor, since tne inception of the. scheme, and is well known in Christchurch as a commercial traveller. Bfe- went away with the Twenty-second Reinforcements.
“I am getting fairly old, and don’t want- to die of senile delay before this conference finishes,” observed a delegate at the Local Bodies’ Conference at Wellington last Wednesday, after he had listened patiently to several long speeches. Judging by the rate of progress being made, ho added, he never, exepected to get home again. A little after this gentle hint'was dropped the chairman applied the time limit, and the business was accelerated.
