The Calm was unable to leave for Wellington, last evening,.'owing to her not having! completed her loading. The Kaitangata was expected te have been dispatched last -night for Westport, but was unable to complete the handling of her cargo, and consequently will have to remain here until tomorrow. The Kini, from Greymouth, with a cargo of timber, reached Lyttelton at an early hour this morning. The Cygnet was to have had a new funnel fitted here yesterday, but owing to another vessel taking up the labpur necessary the work was postponed. Mr J. . Poison, late second officer, of the Storm, joined the Calm at Lvttelton yesterday. Mr Gartner joined the Storm at mate, and Mr Jackson, of the Storm, has signed off that vessel’s articles. Captain Clifton Mqgg, formerly of the Karamca, now has command of the new Shaw Savill liner Otira, which is to load; »t New York for New Zealand. Captain Movg served with the Navy during the war. The Arawa is expected to remain here until Thursday. She is at present dischargintr 500 tons of Home cargo, and it is Hoped fco°put some 40,000 carcases of mutton on board if they can be forwarded from the freezing works this week. If this can be done it will not be necessary for the Arawa to return to Lyttelton on hot way north from Port Chalmers; , . _ , The Wootton sailed last night for Wellington only partly loaded, owing to a shortage of trucks on Saturday. The Orepuki’s departure for Greymouth has been delayed until to-morrow. The Invercargill ie due here from Wellington this evening, and is timed to sail for that port again to-morrow evening. The coastal steamer Tainui sailed last evening for Wellihgton and Wanganui. This vessel was delayed over Sunday, due to the shortage of trucks. The Poherua will not sail for Wellington until Thursday. The Devon,, from Newcastle, anchored in the stream yesterday morning at six o’clock. The port health officer, Dr Upham, gave her a clean bill of health. It is likely that she may have to remain in the stream until Thursday or Friday, on account of the lack of berthing accommodation. The Storm, which arrived on Sunday morning from Timatu, left last evening for Wanganui direct. She is duo back from the north on Saturday. It is understood that the troopship Tofua is to bo handed over by the Imperial Government to her former owners, the Union Bteam Ship 1 Company. Tho Tarawera, which arrived in port on Sunday night from Oamaru, sailed last even, ing for Napier, Gisborne .and Auckland. The Kamo is timed to leave Lyttelton tomorrow for Greymouth, where she will again load coal for Lyttelton. Tho Carpentaria is expected to complete ier loading of between 40,000 and 50,000 oarcases of mutton by Saturday. The Wakatu was expected to leave Wellington or. Saturday night for Kaikoura and Lyttelton. She should reach Lyttelton tonight.
