DEFENCE APPOINTMENTS.
A NEW SCHEME. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 23. It is officially notified that the posting of officers from the Expeditionary Force to the Territorials has been suspended. Officers of the Territorial Force holding a higher status in tha Expeditionary Force, wiio after March 25, 1919, aro struck off the strength later, will be temoovarily posted to a reserve list in which they'will retain thq rank acquired on active service. This will lie regarded as a “suspense” list, from which officers will afterwards bo posted to (a) active list Territorial, (b) reserve officers, and (c) retired list. Those considered unsuitable for Territorial service or desiring to terminate their commissions, will be retired or otherwise^ disposed of. It is intended to accommodate officers from the Expeditionary Force in the Territorial Force with ranks gained on active service in so far as the interests of the service will permit, but a general allotment will not be possible till demobilisation has further progressed.
