It was a wonderful response that the women of New Zealand made in 1914 and they are to he congratulated on the fact that they never allowed their interest and energy to flag, and that the armistice found them with their lamps burning and ready to carry on until the end, whenever that might be. The branches have played a most important part in the work of the Lady Liverpool Fund and I feel wo owe them a very great deal. 1 would like, too, to pav a special tribute, to. Airs Holland. Whatever 1 asked her for I got, and she was always ready and willing to' carry out any I mode. She has never failed me and I would like to thank her now publicly for her unfailing loyalty anl 1 help on every occasion. In conclusion I would ask you not to let the spirit of voluntary service which the Lady Liverpool Fund has fostered and represented escape from our midst, but as we have worked unitedly in the past let the remembrance of our work keep us all unitedrin the future". ' Airs Holland thanked her Excellency for what she had said and referred to the excellent and amicable manner in which the executive, and indeed all the helpers, had worked together. The work of the different branches in Christchurch and throughout Canterbury deserved the highest praise. Without them the depot would not have been able to keep up such a high standard. ..." ‘ Tlie.
