BOWLING.
THE “ FRIENDLY BOWL.” Four rinks from the Christchurch Bowling Club visited Wellington on' Saturday to play the annual game for tho “friendly bowl” with the AVellington Bowling Club- Thu howl, which is always carried back by the visiting team, was presented by Air AV. Barnett, of the Christchurch Club, with the idea of cementing the friendly relations which have existed between tho two clubs down tho years. The yearly re-union has always been a most pleasant one, and last Saturday’s was no exception. The visiting rinks were captained by the president of tho Christchurch Club (Air Helliwell), and they were mot at the AVellington clubhouse by the opposing team on Saturday morning and given a hearty welcome. They wore taken for a two hours’ motor ride through the suburbs, and on returning wore entertained at luncheon in the, clubhouse. The luncheon was supervised by Alesdaines Snick. Johnson. Gooder and Tvinvig, and was invitingly set out on tables handsomely decorated with sweet peas and coreopsis. In tho toasts which followed the luncheon a graceful tribute was paid to these ladies. Afternoon tea was also served. The game in the afternoon was played on the keenest of greens, hut the high wind gave the visitors some trouble, and they were at a_ disadvantago«j(intil they mastered tho difficulties presented. The game resulted in a win for tho AVotHngton Club by 103 points to 63 points. The visitors left for Christchurch in ! the evening, taking with them tho I “ friendly howl.” The AVellington Club I will visit Christchurch next season to take il hack.
