PERFUMERY METHODS.

We are going back to the days of our grandmothers -in so many things that just one more idea may not bo out of placo when economies are practised by everyone. Sometimes those economies are enforced by the times and sometimes because the doing so is a- pleasure, ns the money can be devoted to charities. - Perfumeries are soon to be so expensive that for some of ns they will be beyond our reach, and in oilier cases it migjjt bo a good way to save when one wishes to pay for a Liberty bond to contribute to a pet charity. As most of the sweet-smelling flowers bloom early in the season it is not too soon to begin now. Bay leaves, which grow near the shore, sweet font and sweet grass can be scattered in a linen drawer, and as soon as they hare dried a. little can be placed between the sheets. Later in the season the tall, ewcob clover, which grows so profusely by.the wayside, can be used in the same way. These are all scented herbs, which can he had just for the trouble it takes to pick them. If they are dusty, as they are apt to be, rinse them and drv a. little in the snu before placing in the drawer. Should one be fortunate enough to hare a garden, all sorts of sweet odours may be bad with' a. very little trouble. Lemon, verbena, rose, geranium, and auv sweet-smelling flowers one may fancy, can be dried and scattered among the clothes in ilio bureau drawers.

Roses are precious, hut fortunately bulky. The loaves niav ho dried separately on papers and put in a jar with a little salt and used as necessary to last through the winter. A clove or two added makes the odour more pungent.
