SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
LINWOOD. Tho Lin-wood School Committer mot on Wednesday evening; present—Messrs B. Carter (chairman), W. H. Denton, H. F. Herbert, R. H. Wilson, P. King, G. Phillips and A. Heywood. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of tho late Mrs M. Erickson, Into of the school staff, was carried in silence. Tho head master reported that tho attendance was not good, owing 'to fhe amount of sickness in the'district. For the two'weeks ending October 18 and 25 nearly 100 children were away each day. Tho average, attendance for tho quarter was 635 and the roll number 716. Of the sixty-four Standard VI, pupils fifty-one; gained nroficiency certificates and twelve a. Standard VI. competency. Ao motion of sympathy with all those who had Buffered bereavement in the district during tho epidemic was carried in silence. A resolution was carried thanking Mr and Mrs Herbert and all those who assisted for the splendid manner they had worked the district during the epidemic. A similar vote was passed to the Bond master and stuff. It was decided to have the baths thoroughly cleaned out before p m , tthool reeppiird.
