Dr Paes,.President of-Portugal has been assassinated ■ (Dr vSidonio Bernardino Oardosa da Silva Paes,- President of the Republic of Portugal., was:.-at.• the. head of the revolutionary Junta which on December 8, 1917, swept away the existing Government, Dr Bernardino Michadlo being President at that time. Paes was appointed Premier on December 12, and sixteen days later was made Acting President. His election as President took place on April 28, 1918.)
