GERMANY'S VERSION OF WAR. The “history” of the war now being published in- Germany by the Genera! Staff is an astonishing document, which has even provoked protests from some Germans who are not entirely prejudiced (writes the Geneva correspondent of the “Daily News,” June 24). The most interest, injr part of the section dealing with the campaign in, Belgium is the effort to justify the violation of that country. Marshal von Biebstein, who edits this volume, says that prompt action was necessary because a world of enemies was ready to violate the beloved Fatherland. “Already in peace time” he says, “we had received positive information that in the event of F‘ ir , o, ir enemies would not respect Belgian neutrality, but would speedily seek to threaten the vast industrial centres of North-West Germany. To ipeet this contingency our plan of operations proposed a rapid advance of our right wing through Belgium against the French north-eastern fronRegrets are expressed that Belgium did nob agree to a “peaceful march through” on the part of German troops. The General Staff urges the Germans who stay fat home to remember the debt they owe the men whose graves are in Belgium,
