COAL CRISIS. WELLINGTON, August '2O. Representatives of the coal mine owners are still conferring here. It it understood that as the owners do no; wish to have tho Government or the public worried by a strike in these difficult times, they have shown a willingness to agree (o any reasonable course of action to facilitate a ! settlement and it is expected that a conference between delegates of the disputants will take place soon. Iho lion W. D. S, Mac Donald repeats tho statement that the Employers Association have been misinformed as to the Government’s intentions and proposals. In ail his references to the possibility of an inquiry ho had mentioned the Board of Trade and any investigation would ho by this body ot persons to whom tho hoard could delegate its powers. The Minister has in mind ah inquiry of a kind to satisfy the public, wnich has exorcised great patience
