The railway staff , hold its fifth social on Saturday evening in the Hibernian Hall. Musical items were given by Messrs Cooper, Hide and Hickman. Prize-winners in the euchre tournament were Mrs Low and Mrs Reddington and Messrs R. Thornton and Bowden.
At the meeting of the Tramway Copper Trail Executive on Tuesday, the chairman (Mr L. B. Hart) stated that originally ho had asked the Canterbury Park Trotting Club, through Mr \\itty. to contribute £SO to the prize list, and he had quite understood this would bo done. He had, perhaps not made this quite clear to Mr Witty’ who had assured tho club the donation would go into the general fund for distribution. Mr Hart explains that his remarks at tho meeting did not mean to imply that -Mr Witty had gone backon his agreement.
