"STAR" NEW SERIAL.
“SOARHAVEN KEEP.” (By J. S. FLETCHER.) Our now serial will commence in next Monday's issue, and in future' an instalment, will bo published daily instead of twice Weekly. The story, which is written in Air Fletcher’s best style, is full of exciting incidents, and the reader’s interest is sustained to the finish. A brief synopsis is as follows The mysterious disappearance of a well-known actor, who has visited an out of the way coastal village, gives rise to the peculiar detective story written round Scarhaveh Keep, a. ruin on the estate of Marston Greyle. The actor was not known in the village, and the only cine to the mystery is a remark he had made to a. man in the village that ho had met a man in America of that name. 'Marston Greyle however, denies ever having seen the actor- Greyle’s steward, Chatfield, who has been the servant of the family for years, and who had brought Marston Greyle to Scarhaven when he arrived from America to take over the estate, behaves in ti peculiar manner, and when the body of the missing actor is ojscovcrod, suspicions are. centred on him and his master. There is, however, no evidence, to connect them with the actors death, the .circumstances of which suggest, an accident, and it is in the working out of the ease and the final detection of the real criminals that ‘‘Scarhaven Keep” justifies its claims as mi exciting and absorbing story.
