'XIio matter, of wages ’ s midor discussion, no agreement on this issue having been reached at the luncheon adjournment. v , : JUDICIAL SEPARATION, In the case at the Supreme Court, in which §urah Davison: petitioned for an order of judicial' separation' from her husband, James 'Davison, on the ground of persistent cruelty, Mr Justice. Herdman said that, legal cruelty had beet established, and granted an order of judicial separation, with custody of the youngest child to the petitioner, and v *V h*»Ve*f. scale. . The Paloona has arrived at Wellington from San Francisco.. . MAGISTRATE’S. COURT. AWARD CASES. At the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, George Andrews (Mr Grcsson), pork butcher, was proceeded by the Inspector of Awards, for having paid a female assistant over the. ago of twonty-ono years, 30s a week instead of 60s a week, with having paid a boy under 16 years of ago 5s a week instead of 17s 6d a week, and with having paid a female assistant over If) years of ago 25s a week, instead of 32s 6d a week. All the cases were brought under the Canterbury. Butchers’ Award and in each case it was sought to recover £lO. After hearing evidence the Magistrate gave judgment for fl in respect of each case. The same defendant was charged with having failed to place a copy of the Canterbury butchers’ award in a conspicuous place. Ho was fined Is and costs.
