News has been received that Captain R. K. Nicol, M.C.', who was serving iu Persia, is missing, believed to be killed. Captain Nicol, who is a nephew of Mr A. W. Nicol, inspector to the Christchurch Hospital Board, was‘educated at tlie .Wellington Public School and at Wellington College, and before enlisting resided with his father, Mr W. Nicol, Belmont, Lower. Hiitt. Ho was prominent in athletic sports, being a popular player of Associaiion football. His name appears on the roll of honour of the Petone Baptist Bible Glass, of which he was a valued member. Sergeant Nicol left New Zealand with tlm Sixth Reinforcement, ' and though, in accordance with custom he was reduced to the rank of private on arriving at Egypt, he- soon regained his non-commissioned rank after seeing some months’ service in tire fighting on Gallipoli, taking part in the evacuation.
