MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
[Per Press Association - .] AUCKLAND, August 22. "William Edward Hart, aged fifteen, was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter arising out of the death of Leonard Buchanan Cavanagh, agod_ twelve, who was shot at Otahuhu on Saturday afternoon. Tire evidence of deceased’s brother, aged eleven, was to tho effect that when he and deceased met accused and two other boys in a. paddock Hart, at a distance of twenty yards, said. “Charge!” lifted the gun to his shoulder and fired. Another boy with Hart said that the latter did net lift tho gun right to the shoulder, hut fired from tho chest. Sergeant Harvey said accused, in a statement, said lie put a cartridge into tho gun on the road, and when he fired ho forgot it was loaded. Hart .pleaded not guilty, reserving his defence.
