The Monowai sailed last night for Wellington, Napier, Gisborne and Auckland. Tho Utepukt left Greymoulh yesterday morning, at 10,5, for Lytteiion, She shomd leach this port to-morrow. Mr K. Gorrie, late purser on tho Wimmera, joined tho Wcatrulia at Wellington on Wednesday as purser. Mr ii. Simpson, purser in the Union Company's employ, has arrived at Dunedin tor . instructions. Mr Simpson enlisted with the Now Zealand Forces m 1916, and returned to tho Dominion some mouths ago. The Calm was duo to leave Wellington for Dunedin direct.' Tho vessel is duo hero about Tuesday. Tiie New Zealand Shipping Company is having largo wool-valuing sheds erected on the north side of the Wairoa River. The •beds will be completed about next January. Captain F. Jelioy, who has undertaken the salvaging of the Defender’s machinery at Leper Island, was hampered in his work on Wednesday afternoon owing to a breakdown on the donkey engine used for hauling on the lifts of the Harbour Board’s pontoon. It was hoped to repair the boiler yesterday, and to continue tho work to-day.
