Maxwell on hospital visiting, and by Mr J. H. Collins on tlie work of the concert party. Votes of thanks were accorded the office stall: and those who had assisted with the concerts. Mr W. S. Wharton said that ho wished to express appreciation uw tho work done by the C.D.C., ospetk ally with reference to giving concern parties to the soldiers in various institutions, which were greatly appreciated by the men. Mr Maxwell expressed a hope that something wonid be done towards giving returned men who had begun an education in an institution in England for some suitable employment, an opportunity of continuing their studies. He thought the O.D.C. might take up the work later on. ■The national prohibition campaign was inaugurated at Ashburton last, evening, when a meeting was held at the Theatre Royal The Mayor (Mr lv. Galbraith) presided over a large attendance. Addresses wore given by the Rev J. Paterson and >Mr R. Simpson, of Canada, who were accorded hearty votes of thanks. It was decided to make a Imnse-io-house canvass of the borough fpr signatures to the IHdi-tion. ■'
