Mr Maxwell expressed a hope that something wonid be done towards giving returned men who had begun an education in an institution in England for some suitable employment, an opportunity of continuing their studies. He thought the O.D.C. might take up the work later on. ■The national prohibition campaign was inaugurated at Ashburton last, evening, when a meeting was held at the Theatre Royal The Mayor (Mr lv. Galbraith) presided over a large attendance. Addresses wore given by the Rev J. Paterson and >Mr R. Simpson, of Canada, who were accorded hearty votes of thanks. It was decided to make a Imnse-io-house canvass of the borough fpr signatures to the IHdi-tion. ■'
