HELPING the CZECHOSLOVAKS. _ NEW YORK. August 31. Tho “Now York Times” Washington correspondent says:—lt is stated in official circles that the assistance being sent the (V.ccho-Slovaks in the Baikal region will reach them in time to thwart the plans of tho German and Austrian prisoners and the Bolsheviks. Tho Allies are sending tho O.echo-Slo-vaks large quantities of arms and ammunition and heavy artillery. . The correspondent adds:—Tho lauding of the Japanese troops at Vladivostok, with General Otani, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied forces, is confirmed by an official dispatch. TOKIO, August 21. The Wnr Office, publishes a message from a Czech leader stating that 30,000 Austro-Germnne with seventy guns and many machine guns confront 3000 Czechs with six guns. -,nd urging prompt relief.
