Mr Walt ’(Acting-Prime Minister), moving the. second reading of the Mar Loan Bill, said that the war loans raised in the Commonwealth amounted to £ U5,125,110, and in the United Kingdom to £49,082,059. The total indebtedness of the Commonwealth was £240,199.916. The total amount lent or to bo lent to the Slates for public works during the war was £34.975,000. Repatriation expenditure tvould be met out of revenue. (it reply to a question, Mr Watt said that the bolding of the captured territory in the Pacific was vital to the interests; of Australia.
