*. INTENTION TO RESIGN.
Left to Labour Party to Act.
[From Our Correspondent.] M ELLINGTON, April 10. A letter from Mr AVebh. member for Grey, dattvl from Rotorua prison treeplanting camp, has been published, indicating bis intention to resign under certain contingencies. The letter states;— ‘‘Just a few liner, to inform you that I have posted my resignation as AI.P for Grey to Jim Scott. Have just written to George Hunter requesting that the party should call on. the Win-tho-M ar-Cry Party to got at least 1000 signatures to a petition to the Labour Party to forward my resignation on to the Speaker, If they fail, send it along just when considered advisable. It is quite certain I can’t represent and look after the interests of Grey electors in this place. I am isolated hero from all news. I intend writing to Air Wilford to have me removed to some other prison. I would rather do a term in Lyttelton, where one is in touch with the outside world. I am only permitted to write one letter a week, but can .receive any number. ’ Since arriving here I have been further convinced that prison reform still is a long 'way off. I hope to have something to say about it when I receive my discharge. We are all in good health and spirits, more determined than ever to carry on the tight for Socialism and freedom.” A deputation from various Labour organisations, asking for Air Webb’s release, will interview Air Alasscy, Sir Joseph Ward and Sir James Allen on Friday. ’
