Early in the war he wont to Now York, where he received over £400,000 through the Deutsche Bank, with part of which ho bought an interest in the Paris “Journal.'’ He was alleged to be one of the principal agents of German corruption in France. He was arrested on September 20, and was sentenced to death for treason.)
