Mrs E. M. Ashbolt lins boon informed that lior linsbiiml, Private A. V. Ashholt, was admitted to the military hospital at Tooting on Jnunary 10, suffering; from a Revere, a tack of nephritis. Private Ashbolt, who left, with the Twenty-sixth Reinforcements, ig ,a son of Mrs M. J. Ashbolt, 177, Victoria Street, Ohristchurcn. Mrs Parry, of Berry Street, St Albans, has received a communication from a comrade who witnessed the death of hor son, 'Rifleman F. Parry, in Franco on November 19. In company with a mate, the deceased had been told off to procure rations, and on leaving the cookhouse both were struck by a shell and killed instantly. The letter assures Mrs Parry that her son was held in the highest respect by all his company. Mir R. M. 'Speirs has received news that his son, Lieutenant R. B. Spcirs, who was wounded on November 29 while engaged on transport work, was granted three, weeks’ sick leave from December 22 to January 12. Ho was formerly a. minister of the Methodist Church at Timarn and wont into camp in April. 1916. He soon gained promotion to corporal and sergeant, being eventually posted to the Eighteenth Reinforcements as sergeant-major. Subsequently he gained a commission as second-lieutenant, being posted to tho Twen ty-thiid R einforcements, eventually leaving with the Twenty-fourth, Ho has since gained his commission as first I lieu tenant, .... _ jj .
