ANNIVERSARY DAY.

WINTER WEATHER IN TOWN,

The celebration of Anniversary Day Serbaps is the quietest since the holiay was established. Liquid it ion to the lack of public gatherings, the weather has been wintry all day. A typical south-west wind came up yesterday, and continues to-day, with showers of drenching rain and an occasional tendency towards hail. Great-coats, umbrellas, and mufflers are the order of tho day. The streets and the city have a very deserted appearance, which i* not improved by the gusts of raini-laden wind. The New Brighton Trotfcinp; Club is holding its meeting in spite of the weather. The ceremony of opening: the Beckenham howling grfen has been postponed, and the weather has interfered with most of the other bowling fixtures.
