MARKET REPORTS, GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHRISTCHUECH. November 37. The absence of anything like normal ship, ping to northern ports has caused a further easing in the local market. The Monowai. the only boat for Auckland this weak, must shut out a large proportion of -he. cargo offering. News from Auckland suggests that a considerables quantity of potatoes eou'd be absorbed there just now. Canterbury tubers could land there at £'S a ton, whereas the best quotation received here for Auckland potatoes to-day was £l4 f.0.h., Auckland. But there is no possibility of sending ar\ ■ thing north ju-'t now. There is .'o demand locally, and fanners are unable to quit potatoes.

_ Very few oats are offering, and there is little demand. There are reports of forward sales of the new season's crop, but prices have not transpired. There are merchants who deplore this tendency to gamble in future food supplies, but this class of business has its attractions in somo quarters.. Most of< the chaff in Canterbury, it would seem, has been cut. There is still a fair demand at previous quotations. Th* price* g'ven below are for purchases from farmer*, not ca*fl, sack* extra, delivered at country utationr, the figure* for 1816 being also given for the purposes of comparison. Varying, quantities in the sales, and near or distant railway loading, have to bo taken into account. In th© case of wheat the rn&ximum prices a-r* fixed by the Board of Trade, on a f.o.b. basis. The quotations are a* follows: Nov. 27, Nov. 28, 191 T. 1916. Wheat—
