Mr J. Daniels, Secretary to the Navy, has announced that; American destroyers bombed a submarine under water. It was disabled, but rose to the. surface, with a torpedoer attached to a towline-

The crew, while surrendering, opened the valves of the. submarine, which sank.

The crew were saved, with the exception of two, who were drowned.
