LATE LOCALS.

A lady's purse, containing money, was found in Cathedral Square on Saturday last and was handed to the police. The owner can lmve it by calling at the headquarters, Hereford Street.

There is on view in the window of ■the John Bull cycle shop, Colombo Street north, an oil painting, " The Battle of the Falkland Tslands." The picture was painted by Mr A. C. Cuddy and was presented to the St Albans School to be raffled at the coming fair. The drawing will take place at tie school on August 4 at 9 p.m. The third annual show of the Now Zealand Airedale Terrier Club, to be held at the Alexandra Hall on Saturday next promises to be a. successful affair. The New Zealand Kennel Club has allotted challenge classes for competition, and the entries constitute a Dominion record for Airedales. With all the best of the breed engaged, competition in the various classes should be extremely keen. The- show will be open from 2 p.m. to 0 p.m.

A small boy whilst walking aloDg No. 3 wharf, Lyttelton, early thus morning met with an unpleasant mishap, falling from the wharf into the harbour. His cries for assistance were heard on the dredge Te Whaka and one of the crew promptly dived in and reached the scene none too soon, as the lad, although able to swim,, was becoming exhausted. The boy was brought ashore by his rescuer and soon recovered from the effects of his involuntary bath.
