THE BUDGET.
EXPECTED NEXT WEEK. [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, July 23. The Financial Statement is before Cabinet, which expects to complete consideration in time for the presentation of the- Budget next week. Though fifteen speakers still are on the list for tho Address-in-Reply, this debate will conclude in a few days. The Hon A. L- Herdman is tho only Ministerial speaker in prospect except Mr Massey, who will reply to various criticisms. The Financial Debate probably will commence at the end of next week. The Government has ample legislation ready until then, tho measures including Registration of Business Names, dealing with alien traders; River Board Bill ; relating to widened powers "For drainage and river improvement; Revocation of Naturalisation Bill; and Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act Amendment, a land measure containing no policy points. Later in the session the Military Service Act will be amended, and probably also the War Pensions Act,
