LATE LOCALS.

The Tramway Board has invited tenders for tlv- removal of the old ear shod in Cathedral Square, and plans and sppeilieations for a new building aro now in course of preparation.

This morning the Canterbury Egg Circle sent 10.50 dozen eggs to Wellington for use on a transport,, and several erat.es of frozen poultry are being despatched for the same purpose.

Tho Mayor has received a cable message, from his son, Lioutpiiant S. G. Holland, and from Chaplain Luxford, stating that, the former has undergone a. successful operation at the, Walton-on-Thames Hospital, London. A dpputation from the Christchnroh Tramway Hoard, consist ing of the chairman (Air C. M. Gray) and general manager (Mr F. Thompson) will wait on the Works Committee of tho City Council on Thursday in reference to the proposed new tramway shelter near the Bank of Sow Zealand corner in Cathedral Square.

Mrs M. A. l>art, 101, Ollivier'sßoad, Linwood, has recpived advice from tho Base. Records Office, that her son, Private. Herbert Lancelot Sail, who was receutlv reported ill -with fever, has been transferred to the Convalescent Department at Hornchureh. Private; Sail left New Zealand with the Seventh Reinforcements, and saw considerable active; service. He served for some time at Gallipoli, and took part in the. historical evacuation. He then went to France, where he fought in many engagements, including the famous Somme battle.
